The 7v7 Summer Season 


7 v 7 SUMMER SESSION INFORMATION

SUMMER PRACTICE

Practices, in accordance with AIA rules, will be non-padded and there will be no live tackling. Players should dress appropriately for the weather, but always wearing Ironwood Ridge colors (blue/silver/white t-shirts and shorts or sweats) and cleats. Weightlifting will continue as per usual after practice in the advanced sports conditioning class. The focus of spring ball is to install both defensive and offensive systems and improve individual and team skills.

 2026 Spring  Practice 

  • Formal Spring practice for current freshman, sophomores and juniors will be conducted from 6:00 - 7:30am am Monday through Thursday for three weeks beginning April 27th and ending May 14th. Players must have a valid physical and parent permission to participate. Practices are non-padded and non-contact.  The dress code is Team T-shirt, shorts, and cleats.  Players should bring their own water.   

                                                                                       2026  Summer Practice 

  • Summer Pre-season practices will begin Tuesday morning May 26, and will be held at IRHS on the West Practice Field from 6-8am on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays followed by weight lifting from 8-9:00am.
  • Exceptions to this schedule include days that we have  7 on 7  and OL/DL competition in which case there will be no morning practice on those days, but we will still have lifting at 8-9:00am at IRHS.                               

                                                                                       2026  Summer Break 

  • Beginning Friday, July 3rd and extending through Sunday, July 26th there will be no formal team practices.  This is the ideal time to take summer vacation with your family.
  • If you are in town you are expected to lift with the team at IRHS weight room which will be open for varsity football players M-TH from 8:00-9:00am throughtout the summer.  If you are out of town on vacation, then find someplace to lift wherever you go.
  • Football conditioning and football skills development begins Monday July 27th through Friday July 31st 6:00-8:00am
  • Entire team practices:  Nighthawk T-shirt, shorts, and cleats worn. No shoulder pads or helmets worn.

If players are in town they are expected to be at practice and weight training.

Practice schedule is subject to change.  

2026 Fall Practice

  • First Official day of fall football practice is Monday, August 3rd, 2026.  Helmets and cleats only.  Varsity will practice once daily Monday-Saturday 6:00am-8:00am at IRHS.  This is the required heat acclimatization period during which players gradually become accustomed to playing in full pads during the heat of the summer.  Days 1-3 (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday) are helmets only.  Thursday shoulder pads are added.  Attendance is Mandatory.
  • Full Pracitice in full pads is Monday August 10th, 2026 from 6-8:00am at IRHS. Only players that have completed the required acclimatization period (6 practices may participate in full pads).

7 on 7 and OL/DL SUMMER COMPETITIONS- VARSITY

More information will be provided as each event gets closer.

 

 

  •       May 28th - Sabino High School 7 v 7 Competition Only
  •       Location: Sabino High School :   5-7:00pm  Varsity only.  There will be four other teams and we will play 30 minutes versus each team, There's no       cost.  Players will have to bring their own water and provide their own transporation.  No  OL/DL Competition
  •        June 3rd & 4th - Victory Sports  Funding 7 on 7 Tournament and Big Man Challenge
    • Location:  Kino South Sports Complex for all Events  (All Tournaments start around 5:00pm)
    • 7v7 Passing Tourney will be Wednesday 6/3 &  Thursday 6/4
    • Big Man Tourney will be Wednesday, June 3rd ONLY
    • June 11th and June 25th-  Pueblo High School 7v7 and OL/DL Competition
    • Location: Pueblo High School from 5-7:00pm
  •       June 13th -  Rio Rico  - 7 on 7 tournament and OL/DL Competition (Release of Liability/Informed Consent Waiver must be signed to participate)
  •        Location:  Rio Rico High School (12-16 teams participating) 
    • Saturday June 13th 8:00am start  (4 pool games then Single elimination bracket)
    • June 16th  and June 18th Marana 7 on 7 and OL/DL Competiion (Varsity Only)
    • Location: Marana High School - 4 teams  6-8:00pm
    • June 23rd and June 25th Marana 7 on 7 and OL/DL Competition (Frosh/Soph)   
    • Location:   Marana High School - 4 teams  6-8:00pm
    • June 25th Pueblo High School 7v7 and OL/DL Competition (Pueblo, Marana, & Santa Rita)
    • Location: Pueblo High School from 5-7:00pm

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR PLAYER HAS PLENTY OF WATER!! 

Don't forget mouth guards, they are mandatory to play.

 

June 13th

Rio Rico 7 on 7 tournament and OL/DL Competition

June 13th  8:00am Start 

  • Rio Rico High School (12-16 teams participating) 
    • Saturday June 13th 8:00am start  (4 pool games then Single elimination bracket)
    • Player waiver form MUST be signed by a parent so that the players can play, there will be no exceptions.
    • PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR PLAYER HAS PLENTY OF WATER!!
